Learn the fundamental skills to start you on your jewellery making journey
Course description:
Level 1 Beginners: No previous jewellery making skills are necessary as full tuition and guidance will be given.
During this 6 week course students will gain a basic understanding of jewellery making.
The first 4 weeks of the course are technique based and students will learn a series of traditional jewellery making techniques such as soldering, saw piercing, doming, forming, texturizing, wire forming, silver ring making and proper use of tools.
For the remaining 2 weeks Karen will help guide you through designing and making your very own piece/pieces of unique jewellery; utilising some of the techniques previously learnt in the first half.
You will be working in a variety of metals such as copper, brass and Sterling Silver. Please note that base metals such as copper and brass are supplied for samples and included in the course fees. Sterling silver wire will also be supplied for the make a ring class.
Each class will run on Wednesdays starting from the 7th Feb till the 13th March from 9.30am-12.30pm at Metallium Jewellery’s Workshop Studio 8 within Creative Studios Dundee.

Please note students will need to purchase metal for their final piece. Cost of this is dependent on design. Students will be advised on costs and where to purchase.
All tools needed are supplied.
Good use and strength of hands is imperative. If you wear glasses for close up work or fine detail please bring these with you.
What students require for the course
An apron will be provided to protect your clothes but please don’t wear good clothes as they may get spoiled. Jewellery making can get a little messy at times!
Notebook and pen/pencil for taking notes and jotting down ideas for final design
Long hair must be tied back.
No open toed shoes allowed in the workshop.

After adding class to cart please select delivery (which is free). Although this is not a physical product it will allow me to collect your contact details which are needed to the book the class.
After Purchase
Once you have purchased the course you will receive a confirmation of purchase email. Later on you will also recieve a personal email from myself outlining details of the course and confirming dates and times etc. If you have any questions about the course please feel free to respond to this email.

Beginners Jewellery Making Class
Please note if numbers for class are not met class will be cancelled and a full refund given
If for any reason you find yourself in the postion of not being able to attend the class please email Karen on info@metalliumjewellery.co.uk at least one week before the class block starts. A full refund will be issued. However, if cancellation is made after the stated cancellation period no refund will be given.
If you start the block of classes but then find yourself unable to attend the remainder of the classes no refund will be given.
Occasionally unforeseen circumstances arise and Karen might need to cancel a class at short notice. If this happens, Karen will offer alternative dates.
If these do not suit, a refund will be made for the remaining classes.
